Yesterday (October 24, 2011) I attended Breathe Deep New York City at Battery Park in New York City.
You can learn more about this walk at http://events.lungevity.org/site/TR?fr_id=2990&pg=entry

As of October 24, 2011 - this walk raised $210,426 and had 1,157 participants!!

I was a guest speaker at this walk. I was pleasantly surprised during the walk when I saw this sign with my photograph on it. Along with this sign of myself, there were other signs marking the 5K walk that day. The other signs included photopgraphs of other survivors, such as my good friend and fellow LC survivor Alisa. Also, there were "in memory of" signs of people who have lost their battle with the disease as they are being remember throughout the walk.
I will never forget the feeling of love during this event, and the embrace that I received from other survivors.
I encourage YOU to attend this inspirational walk next year!

UPDATE
On October 21, 2011 I participated in "Be Bold, Be Bald". Be Bold, Be Bald www.beboldbebald.org, a way of fundraising to gain public attention to cancer survivors and patients. Of course, being a lung cancer survivor I used this as a tool to raise awareness for lung cancer. As I wore the bald cap that day, I went to businesses all over my community offering information about lung cancer, and the upcoming walk at Cooper River (Pennsauken, NJ) called Heather Saler's Walk for curing lung cancer. I was able to distribute more than a dozen small stands filled with information about LUNGevity Foundation, lung cancer fact sheets, statistics about the disease, and how to register for the upcoming walk.
The proceeds toward the "Be Bold, Be Bald" fundraiser were donated to the LUNGevity Foundation www.lungevity.org
I encourage YOU to participate in this next year!
