In Memory of a Friend

It has taken me longer than I thought it would to write a few words about a friend of mine, a fellow lung cancer survivor, Garry. I met Garry through the wonderful world of LUNGevity Foundation online support community, which I use to stay in touch with other survivors. In May 2012 I met Garry in-person during LUNGevity's annual Hope Summit. It was so fun meeting Garry as we and some other survivors took a long walk in Washington, DC. I was thrilled when Garry came to my annual Lung Cancer Fundraiser benefiting LUNGevity Foundation. Garry came with some of his family, we all ate dinner, listened to both live and Dj music, and shared some stories of our experiences with lung cancer. Garry passed away on October 20, 2012 (obituary here). Today I want to remember Garry as he continues to be a lung cancer survivor.
