Ups & Downs Of Life

As you may or may not know, a few months ago I put in an application to Wilmington University for a graduate program in Mental Health Counseling. This is the same University that I obtained my Behavioral Science Bachelor's degree. About two weeks ago I learned that I had been placed on to a 'waiting list' at the University for my current degree program of choice. I am still very much disappointed about this, because if I do not get picked up by the waiting list then I will need to reapply next year. To top it off, I will be receiving my first student loan bill any week now. Thank goodness I have a job right now, otherwise I'd be just like every other college graduate in America today - no job, no money, no hope. I'd be happier with a job in my field, but my current job will do. I have applied for a state job, but no reply as of yet. I will be calling to check on my application either this week or next.

With all this disappointing news, I have had some really wonderful news as well. TODAY (5/29/2012) I was published in the Burlington County Times with my friend, Harriet. The article is called, 'Taking a timely White House tour', and you should read it.

And if that news wasn't great enough, I received a phone call from a local magazine called, 'County Woman Magazine', in regards to a request I placed a few weeks ago. My personal story, LUNGevity Foundation's stats on lung cancer, and my 2nd Annual Lung Cancer Fundraiser (August 17th) will have a spread in the summer edition! ALSO it will not only be published in my county of Burlington, but Camden county as well!!

I have been working hard with Harriet over the last two weeks collecting generously donated items for the Chinese Auction this event year. I even received my first pledge for sponsorship from the local VFW in Maple Shade! Although this event is only in its second year, I feel that it is already making a large positive impact in my community - which is the goal!!

I really hate the DOWNS in life, but it makes it so much worth it when I get a handful of UPS.

REFLECT: What are some of your ups and downs of life?
